Anniversary of the Revolution (1919)

"Dziga Vertov's first feature film was recently restored and together with Martin de Ruiter I made a new score for a special live screening/performance that was part of the side programme for a William Kentridge exhibition. A peculiar 'bureaucratic' film that is in most part like a lecture of the stages that the Russian Revolution went through. We made the most of it focusing on the repetitiveness of the film and the wry interchangeability of the officials involved in the revolution."

Director: Dziga Vertov

Running time: 119 min

Commissioned by Eye Filmmuseum

Performed live on 15/6/2019 with Martin De Ruiter
